Would you like to work towards a Carbon Literacy Certificate?

Heard about “Net Carbon Zero” or “reducing our Carbon Footprint” but want to understand more about what this means and why it’s important?

Want to think through your response as a Christian to the Climate Crisis, beyond the news headlines?

This 3- part course is offered for anyone in the Dioceses of Southwark or London who want to take the next step on their Eco Journey and that of their church.

The Carbon Literacy Trust provides widely accepted training in the subject; this material has now been adapted for the Church of England.

We can now offer an easily accessible course that helps us become ‘Carbon Literate’.

Our sessions together will build our understanding of the impact of greenhouse gases and help us identify practical steps we can take to reduce our carbon emissions.

Three evening sessions via Zoom will be facilitated by

The Revd Derek Winterburn (vicar at St James’ Church Hampton Hill and Creation Care Area Lead for the Kensington Area in the Diocese of London)

Professor Sigrun Wagner (Senior Lecturer in International Business and Sustainability at Royal Holloway, University of London)

Jack Edwards, Southwark Diocesan Environmental Officer

EVERYONE is welcome, whether you are new to the idea of creation care or you have decades of experience!

The sessions will take place on:

  • Tuesday 8th November 2022, 19:30-21:30

  • Tuesday 15th November 2022, 19:30-21:30

  • Tuesday 22nd November 2022, 19:30-21:30

There is no charge for the course. However the CLT requires a minimum number of hours of training, so attendance at each session is required and some ‘homework’.

Places are limited so please book soon to avoid disappointment; closing date for bookings is Wednesday 2nd November.

Following successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a Carbon Literacy certificate.
